6. Real <br />a. Prior to exploration activities, Bowie must coordinate their proposed activities with <br />Western Area Power Administration, and provide the Uncompahgre Field Office with <br />documentation of that coordination. <br />b. Sedimentation control measures and Best Management Practices (BMPs) would be <br />utilized on the additional 120-foot segment of existing road. <br />c. Construction and Reconstruction of roadways will be completed to applicable BLM <br />standards. <br />7. Hazardous Materials: <br />a. All spills would be contained, cleaned up and reported within 24 hours to the agency <br />representative. <br />b. Any lubricant or fuel spills shall be reported immediately to the BLM hazardous material <br />coordinator. Any spills will be cleaned up to the Authorized Officer's satisfaction using <br />standard HAZMAT procedures. <br />f. Trash, used containers and other waste will be removed from drilling sites on a routine <br />basis and deposited in appropriate off site receptacles. <br />g. Other than fuel and motor oil to run the equipment, no hazardous/toxic materials will be <br />used. <br />0 h. Refueling of equipment will not occur with in 100 feet of live water. <br />f. Mud pits must be allowed to dry or pumped before they are backfilled and reclaimed. If <br />pumped, fluids would be disposed at a Colorado State approved site. Pits will be enclosed <br />by construction grade, PVC mesh, 4' tall, safety fencing while they are left to dry. <br />8. Water Quality and Soils: <br />a. All drill holes must be plugged in accordance with Federal and State regulations. BLM <br />will be notified of any exploration drill-holes that encounter water and are selected to <br />become long-term ground water monitoring wells. <br />b. All drilling fluids, mud and cuttings must be contained on the project site in mud pits or <br />portable containers. <br />9. Endangered Species: <br />a. Sedimentation control measures, as discussed in the 2010 BA, would be employed to <br />control erosion and runoff on drill pads and access roads and minimize the amount of <br />sediment reaching channels. <br />b. Bowie will use a bridge to minimize sediment entering the stream due to vehicle <br />crossmg. <br />c. Bowie will augment the water in East Terror Creek by releasing water from Terror Creek <br />Reservoir to avoid impacts due to dewatering. <br />DOI-BLM-CO-S050-2010- 0017 EA Page A-9 of 10 pages May 2010
