BRL does not
anticipate encountering any significant aquifers in the course of the proposed exploration
program, although the Rollins Sandstone and lenticular but occasionally thick sandstone
units in the coal-bearing interval of the Williams Fork Formation to be tested do
frequently contain some water.
Method for Plugging Drill Holes
Holes not completed as surveillance or monitoring wells will be sealed using cement or
other approved sealant from total depth to within three feet of the surface. Drill cuttings
may be mixed with cement or other approved sealant during sealing. Holes will be
marked with a four-foot (minimum) steel roof bolt or a T-shaped fence post. Sealing will
be in compliance with §4.07.3.
That portion of the hole between the cement seal and the [reclaimed] ground surface will
be filled with dirt, drill cuttings, or both to minimize hazards to wildlife, livestock, and
humans.
Plans for Transfer and Modification of Exploration Drill Holes to Be Used as
Surveillance, Monitoring, or Water Wells
• The operator will modify 2010-1 into a monitoring well.
