The
purpose of the modification is to accommodate a Tri-State power line location project. Tri-State
has requested an easement for their project on a segment of the northern boundary of the pit as
well as along the western boundary of the property. Only the segment on the northern portion
affects mining operations and is the reason for this request. Tri-State's project is the sole reason
for the revision, with the County having no interest in plan changes otherwise.
The revision intends to address the need to remove gravel from the Tri-State easement on the
northern boundary of the phase IV mining plan. Any overburden or topsoil would be removed
and segregated from the gravel from the easement and the designated storage area and stored
adjacent to the easement. None, or little of this material is thought to actually exist, but will be
accounted for in this fashion should that not be the case. The gravel would then be removed from
the easement area as well as the side slope form that will be introduce from the mined easement
to a point at the top of the slope. The gravel will be stored adjacent to the easement a minimum
of fifty feet from the cut of the introduced side slope. The side slope will be finished to a 3:1
form from the easement boundary to the top of the slope.
The mined gravel material will remain on site, stored and not removed until the County enters the
phase IV of the mining plan. The County currently is in phase II of the mining plan. Topsoil and
overburden, if any, will be used as part of the reclamation of the operation at the appropriate
time.
M:\Engineering\Gravel Pits\county gravel pits\sites\Ellison\Tri State\2010miningPlanRevision.doc
Page 1 of 2
