GEOGRAPHIC SETTING: Wahweap soils are on rolling plateaus. These soils formed in eolian sands <br />and sandstone alluvium. Slopes range from 0 to 16 percent. Elevations range from 3600 to 4400 feet. <br />Mean annual precipitation is 6 to 10 inches. Mean annual air temperature is 55 to 57 degrees F. Frost - <br />free period is 160 to 180 days. <br />GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the Pagina and Sheppard series. Pagina soils <br />are moderately deep. Sheppard soils are very deep. <br />DRAINAGE AND PERMEABILITY: Somewhat excessively drained; slow runoff; moderately rapid <br />permeability. <br />USE AND VEGETATION: Used mainly for livestock grazing. Vegetation is mainly blackbrush, Mormon - <br />tea, broom snakeweed, Indian ricegrass, and annuals. <br />DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: Northern Arizona.
