There was no representative from McClane
Canyon Mining, LLC CM present during the inspection. I spoke with April Schultz Administrative Assistant
for MCM at the urine office prior to my inspection. D st r Dyer, Mining Engineer for the BLIP Uncompaghre
Field office was also on -site to conduct a quarterly lease inspection. He inquired about the archeological site
recently investigated by Grand River Institute that was reinitiated as a result of the TR-16 plan to build a new
waste pile and sediment pond at this location. The T --1 6 plan is no lager active and alternate plans, are being
developed by MCM for a different waste pile location. D sty Dyer and I inspected the archeological site
(5GF741) at the start of nay complete inspection. This site has been previously identified on the permit area and is
documented in the cultural resource survey in Appendix J of the permit application package. The location of the
site is beneath the rock outcrop overhang west of the existing temporary coal waste and sediment storage pile.
trench has been excavated beneath the overhang and is covered with a plastic tarp and temporarily l ackfilled with
dirt and rook. The site is inactive at this time and there has been no further activity at the site since June 2009.
According to MCM there are plans to conduct additional investigations of this archeological site.
Weather conditions were sunny and warm and ground conditions were dry at the time of the inspection.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
All required records were available for review at the McClane Canyon 1 lire of`fi o.
