PUBLIC NOTICE, KERR COAL COMPANY - MARR MINE PERMIT RENEWAL No.6 (RN -06) Kerr Coal Company (Kerr) has filed an application with the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining & Safety (DRMS) for renewal of the Mining and Reclamation Permit for the Marr Mine and the associated Loadout site. Kerr is the former operator and current permittee under Permit No. C -80 -006. Mining ceased in 1993 and the responsibility for reclamation continues for a minimum of 10 years following permanent seeding. The purpose of the renewal is so that Kerr can complete the reclamation activities for another 5 year period or until final bond release is approved. The Loadout site is located just south of Walden near the former Louisiana - Pacific Lumber mill site and adjacent to the Illinois River. The proposed permit renewal covers areas within the Mine and the Loadout permit boundaries as listed below. These areas are situated on the Johnny Moore Mountain, Gould NW, Walden and Eagle Hill 7.5 minute USGS quadrangle maps in the 6th Prime Meridian: Mine • Township 8 North, Range 78 West — Section 2 • Township 9 North, Range 78 West - Sections 22, 23, 25, 26, 27 and 35 Loadout • Township 9 North, Range 79 West — Sections 28 and 29.
