MAYFLOWER SEEPAGE COLLECTION / PUMP STATION
•
Seepage from 5 Dam is captured through a system of tenched and piped subdrains beneath
the toe of the dam and upstream for 1500 feet. Seepage is routed by gravity flow directly into
either of the two concrete seepwater ponds located at the toe of the dam, just above the
clearwater pond. These collection ponds are designed to allow seepage to be collected
in one pond while the other one is being serviced. The collected seepwater flows to the
Clearwater Pond where it is pumped back to the Mayflower Treatment Pond. The
Clearwater Pond has standby pumps and a standby generator as a backup to the
seepwater return system. The pumping of seepwater is discontinued during the snow melt
bypass period.
Pond Volumes Pump Capacities
Seepwater Ponds undetermined Clearwater Pond Pumps 2 I.R. pumps, 750 gpm total
Clearwater Pond 5 million gallons
Operating Procedures / Controls
Pumpback pump #1 is run off of a variable speed drive set to maintain a pond level of 7.5'.
Pumpback pump #2 will start at a level above 7.5', but does not have a variable drive.
Controls for the pumps are outlined on the boxes on the MCC deck.
