• Dowfroth 250 has a low single dose toxicity.
Dowfroth 250 is a stable product which will mix 100 percent with water in the environment. It
is not considered an environmental hazard.
Pine Oil
Pine oil is composed of terpene alcohols and hydrocarbons and is used in the mill circuit as a
frother reagent. In humans it may cause skin and eye irritation and may be harmful if ingested or
inhaled. However, it is neither characteristically hazardous or listed as hazardous under federal
regulations.
Pine oil is stable and non-persistent in the environment.
Calumet 6100
Calumet 6100 (aka: vapor oil) is a severely hydro-treated light naphthenic petroleum oil which is
used in the mill circuit as a collector/rougher reagent. It is non-hazardous and practically non-
toxic through dermal or ingestion pathways.
In the environment, this reagent is stable. It should be treated similar to any petroleum product
should spills or releases occur.
tex
.X —
Syntex is a non-hazardous particulate surfactant similar to common soap which is used in the mill
circuit as a frother/soap. In humans, it may lead to possible irritation of the gastrointestinal tract
if ingested in quantity. It is stable and non-hazardous in the environment.
Nalco 7873
Nalco 7873 is a non-hazardous, common commercial flocculant used at the Climax mill in the
thickener feed process. This flocculant has a "slight" rating for health effects and flammability.
Chronic exposure can cause minimal dermal and eye irritation. Nalco 7873 is considered
essentially non-toxic in the environment based on extensive laboratory bioassay data provided by
the Nalco Chemical Company. In the event of spillage, the material should be contained with
sorbents or earthen dikes prior to removal.
•
9
