Flag Resources, Inc.
Silt Pit
M.L.R.B. Permit# M-1981-202SG
Revised 9107110
Page 2
our plan is to do selective spraying of the Knapweed and
hoary cress in the moderate areas during the spring each year,
shortly after germination. Inspection of the site will be done
in the fall and additional spraying will be done as necessary
until the infestation is under control. This will control the
heavier populations of noxious weeds that spread into the light
or scattered areas.
The chemicals used for treatment may in include but are not
limited to 2-4-D, Ranger Pro°, Escort®, Milestone®, Telaro,
Roundup@ and Curtail@ depending on what area is being sprayed and
the type of vegetation being treated. The exact chemical used
will be determined when spraying begins. Any chemicals used will
be applied at the manufactures suggested rate. Spot spraying
will be done in the light areas where needed. This spraying will
take place each spring until we have the noxious weed under
control. Additional spraying may take place in the fall once we
have assessed the success of the control methods used the previ-
ous spring. Total control will not be possible because the
surrounding areas, not under our control, have no management plan
and will be the seed source for continuing infestation.
Tamarisk
As is common on the western slope of Colorado, Tamarisk are
a problem along the Colorado River. There are no control plans
on surrounding properties so total control can not be accom-
plished on the mine until the outside sources of seed are elimi-
nated.
We currently control the Tamarisk infestation by digging the
plants out and burning them. This has been our practice for a
number of years and will be continued as mining progresses thru
the mine. As we find a Tamarisk plant it is removed using a
track hoe and piled for later burning. This is proving to be a
very effective control method as there are is one plant left in
the permit area.
