On August 12, 2010 at 6:30 hrs, Sanjel rigged up, ran in the hole and tagged the top of
cement at a depth of 1183 ft. The fourth cement lift consisted of 53 sacks of Type "G"
cement with 0.7% CFR and 2% calcium chloride, resulting in 10.86 bbls of 15.8 ppg
cement with a 1.15 ft3/sack yield. This calculated to approximately 704 feet of lift. After
pumping the cement down hole, the coiled tubing was pulled up to a depth of 479 feet
and the remaining cement was displaced out of it. Some fluid returns to the surface were
noted at this time. The cement was allowed to harden while a truck was sent to retrieve
more cement. At 9:30 hrs the coiled tubing was tripped in to a depth of 469 feet without
tagging the top of cement to prevent plugging the tubing with unhardened cement.
The fifth and final batch of cement consisted of 30 sacks of Type III cement with 0.5%
CFR and 2% calcium chloride, resulting in 7.32 bbls of 14.6 ppg cement with a 1.37
ft3/sack yield. This calculated to approximately 479 feet of lift. After pumping the
cement down hole, fluid and cement returns were noted at the surface and were collected
by a vacuum truck. Sanjel pulled the tubing to surface and cleaned the remaining cement
from the CTU before leaving location at 10:30 hrs on August 12, 2010. The final cement
plug top was tagged at 0.75 ft below ground level at 19:00 hrs on August 12, 2010.
Conclusion
The Natural Soda, Inc. hydrologic and subsidence monitoring well 93-2M was
successfully plugged and abandoned on August 12, 2010. The casing was perforated
between the depths of 1212-1215 ft and 1230-1233 ft prior to plugging in order to ensure
a good annular seal between the Perched and A-Groove Aquifers. A total of 239 sacks of
Type "G" and 30 sacks of Type III cement were pumped down hole to plug it from a
depth of 1898 ft (top of the CIBP) to 0.75 ft from ground level (see Figure 1). The
remaining surface casing will be cut off below surface and a dry hole marker will be
welded on prior to reclamation of the pad.
Daub & Associates, Inc.
