Notice of Proposed Decision <br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has issued a proposed decision to Approve <br />Bond Release Application No. 5 (SL-5) for the Keenesburg Strip Mine, Permit No. C-1981-028. The <br />mine is operated by Coors Energy Company under the provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining <br />Reclamation Act of 1979. The bond release application was submitted by Coors Energy Company on <br />February 19, 2010. Coors Energy Company sent a notice of Application for a Phase II partial bond <br />release for the Keenesburg Mine. The area totals 51.05 acres and includes areas 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 15, 16, <br />19, 23, and 29. The bond amount requested for release is $120,385.00. CEC has replaced topsand, <br />established vegetation, and has provided a demonstration that suspended solids contributions to runoff <br />outside the permit area do not exceed pre-mining levels. The affected area is located in Weld County, <br />approximately 7 miles north of Keenesburg, Colorado. <br />Copies of the proposed decision are available for review at the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining <br />and Safety office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203, and at the office of the <br />Weld County Clerk and Recorder. <br />Any person who has an interest which is or may be adversely affected may request an adjudicatory <br />hearing regarding this proposed decision. Requests for a hearing must be made in writing within thirty <br />(30) days of the first publication of this notice, and shall state with reasonable specificity the reasons for <br />the request and objections to the proposed decision.
