Photos were taken on August 20, 2010.
Considerable activity is observed at the Yoast Pond 12 slide area which provided a good opportunity
to view the progress. Marcia Talvitie reviewed the photos of the slide repair and made several
observations as noted below.
BACKFILL and GRADING - Rule 4.14
[]Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination
4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
Construction plans for remediation of the Pond 012 slide were approved under TR-46 in June, 2010. Construction
activities were under way at the time of the inspection, as shown in Photos 1304, 1305 and 1306; all activities
appear to be being done in accordance with the approved plan. See attached photo.
Fill materials from the upper portion of the slide area have been excavated, exposing the competent sandstone and
shale bedrock surfaces. The excavation phase may not yet be complete, as evidenced by two semi-circular
features excavated into the base of the shale bedrock zone.
Progress is being made in reconstructing Channel YPM-6-3: Turf Reinforcing Mat (TRM) has been installed along
the floor of the excavated channel; PVC pipe is visible in the channel bottom; and segments of the channel have
been filled with gravel. Work on the gravel-filled trench that will run parallel to the base of the final excavated
slope does not appear to have commenced. The inferred location of the trench is illustrated in the Photo.
Above the excavated slope, the locations of Test Holes 11 and 12 are visible, as are erosion logs installed as part
of the SAE.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0
Page 2 of 5
