PERMIT #: M-1990-059
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: RCO
INSPECTION DATE: August 15, 2010
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection that was performed while this inspector was in the area to check other sites
nearby. The site has not been active, and the operator was not contacted.
The site has been inactive long enough that it should be reactivated or the last steps of final reclamation should be
commenced. Please refer to Hard Rock/Metals Rule 1. 13, concerning declaration of temporary cessation, five-year time
limit on temporary cessation, and resumption of activity at end of period of temporary cessation.
(AT) Acid And Toxic Materials:
Narrative: There was no iron-stained material or seepage visible on the dump surface, no ore or pyrite on the site, and no
chemicals or contaminants present.
(BG) Backfilling and Grading:
Narrative: The site has been in reclamation for several years. Backfilling of the portal was performed, though it appears
that it settled or was re-opened to a small extent, leaving a 2-foot wide opening. This opening does not meet the
reclamation plan, and additional backfilling work is needed. The dump was recontoured, and the cut face above the portal
was filled and sloped. These surfaces exhibit good slope gradients and no settling or erosion.
(FN) Financial Warranty:
Narrative: The bond amount is $1,000. It is sufficient to perform the remaining reclamation tasks.
(HB) Hydrologic Balance:
Narrative: The site is dry, with no discharge, ponding or stained runoff.
(RD) Roads:
Narrative: The portion of the access road south of the creek (furthest from the county road) was barricaded and seeded.
(RS) Reclamation Success:
Narrative: The regraded surfaces of the disturbed area (excluding the portal opening itself) appear to be adequately
reclaimed, making the small area of disturbance difficult to discern from surrounding areas.
(RV) Revegetation:
Narrative: The site is well vegetated with grass and forb cover. No noxious weeds were observed.
(TS) Topsoil:
Narrative: No soil appears stained from minerals, and there is no erosion or sedimentation.
PHOTOGRAPHS
(Attached at end of inspection report.)
Inspection Contact Address
Gil Moser
705 Crestview Dr.
Farmington, NM 87401
