Attached is a copy of the
inspection report. Most of the items identified in the 04/20/2010 inspection report were addressed by the time this
report was completed. Overall, the sites were tidy and secure, except for those items mentioned in the rennrL
Halogeton at the site is pervasive.
As a result of this inspection, the following action items were identified:
SEP ®7 2910
Dviisiar, aal
1) Continue with herbicide application on site to control halogeton. The frequency of application ve --qtj
be increased.
2) A fissure was observed on the top of the Topaz dump. Please determine if it is from infiltration of fines or
from mass movement. If it is from mass movement, then mitigation methods will need to be devised.
3) Check storm water runoff features on a frequent basis to ensure they continue to function properly - for as
long as the monsoon rainfall pattern continues. Maintain as needed.
4) BLM will continue to monitor toe of dumps for signs of seepage after the monsoonal cycle has subsided.
5) Denison should secure the storage shed on the Carnation Mine.
6) Clean up additional junk trash and tires identified at the site. This does not need to be done right away, but
can wait until the mine is reopened, or the decision is made to idle the site long-term.
7) Re-seed the topaz vent after spraying with a BLM approved seed mix.
Please contact James Blair in this office at 970-882-6862 to discuss any of these items.
Sincerely,
Steven K.
