APA
ame&
Backfilling of the PSSA anchor trench continued between stations G3+50 (+/-) and G6+00 (+/-).
The anchor trench was backfilled using a John Deere 35D excavator, a CAT skid steer loader, and
laborers. Structural fill (ore) was moisture conditioned using a tandem axel water truck and placed
in the trench in one-foot compacted lifts. Compaction was achieved using a vibratory plate
compactor.
C) Geomembrane Acceptance
1) VLF
No geomembrane was accepted during the week (see Figure 4 for previous geomembrane
acceptance).
D) Geomembrane Delivery
1) VLF
Three loads (33 rolls) of 80mi1 LLDPE single sided textured geomembrane rolls were delivered to
site during the shift. The loads were delivered on a flat bed truck in good condition. The rolls were
unloaded using a CAT 950 front-end loader with forks attached. The geomembrane was placed on
three pieces of HDPE pipe, stacked two rolls high. An AMEC field representative inventoried the
geomembrane and was present at all times during unloading of the geomembrane.
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor.
AMEC observed, logged data, and assisted in the installation of geomembrane within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed, performed testing, obtained samples, and assisted in the placement of Soil Liner Fill
material within the Phase VLF.
AMEC inspected and approved subgrade prior to SLF placement.
AMEC observed and inspected anchor trench construction.
AMEC observed, obtained samples, and assisted in the process of DCF material at the DCF Process area.
AMEC continuously monitored the DCF placement.
AMEC observed the installation of the high volume solution collection system.
AMEC observed and inventoried geomembrane delivered to site.
Testing Summary
Laboratory testing continued (Particle Size Distribution, Atterberg Limits, Moisture-Density Relations,
Specific Gravity, Permeability, and Point Load testing) for sampled materials.
VLF Weekly Report WE 08.21.10.D.docx
