=A 'Environment. <br /> SAMPLING HANDLING AND SHIPPING <br /> Samples collected as part of this project will be shipped following protocol outlined in the <br /> following regulations: Department of Transportation (DOT) 49 Code of Federal Regulations <br /> (CFR) Subchapter C, Part 171 (October 1, 1988), the International Air Transport Association <br /> (IATA), and the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO). <br /> The following steps will be followed when packaging and shipping environmental samples: <br /> 1. Collect the sample following appropriate procedures as outlined in the SAP. <br /> 2. Wipe the exterior of the sample container with appropriate decontamination solution <br /> while wearing the necessary personal protective equipment. <br /> • 3. Attach the identification tag to the appropriate sample container. <br /> 4. Place one or more samples into a strong, outside, water-tight container, such as an ice <br /> chest or a DOT-approved fiberboard box. <br /> 5. Add ice and/or blue ice. <br /> 6. Secure containers with noncombustible, absorbent, cushioning material for stability. <br /> 7. Secure the properly completed chain-of-custody form to the inside of the ice chest lid in a <br /> plastic bag. The chain-of-custody form will list only those samples contained in the ice <br /> chest. <br /> 8. Tape ice chest drain and ice chest closed using fiberglass tape. <br /> CO2095 <br />
