PERMIT #: M-2006-029
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: PSH
INSPECTION DATE: August 19, 2010
OBSERVATIONS
The South Fork Pit, File No. M-2006-029, was inspected by Peter Hays and Tony Waldron with the Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) as part of the Division's monitoring inspection program. Mr. Dan
Payne with Grand County Department of Road and Bridge was present during the inspection.
The South Fork Pit is permitted for 5.57 acres with a maximum mined depth of 20 feet. No mining activities
were observed during this inspection. According to annual reports submitted by Grand County, the pit was last
mined in 2006. A large stockpile of processed material was observed in the north end of the pit floor. Mr.
Payne stated the gravel from the site was used on the roads near the Henderson Mill only and stockpiled
material had been removed this year. The pit floor was dry and the site appeared stable.
No reclamation activity was observed at the site during the inspection. An entrance sign was posted and permit
boundary markers (metal t-posts and painted blue trees) were observed as required by Rule 3.1.12. No
problems were noted during this inspection. Photographs from the inspection are attached.
Inspection Contact Address
Mr. Ken Haynes
Grand County Department of Road and Bridge
P.O.
