Pubic Notice - Newspaper Advertisement <br />CAM-Colorado, LLC, 2352 North 7th Street, Unit C, Grand Junction, CO 81501, has submitted a <br />complete application for a permit to conduct coal mining in Colorado to the Division of <br />Reclamation, Mining and Safety for its proposed Fruita Loadout. The proposed loadout will tie <br />into the Union Pacific mainline west or Reed Gulch. The spur track travels west from the tie in <br />then makes a wide turn to reverse direction from westerly to easterly. The spur track will bridge <br />over Reed Wash. The unit train loadout loop, coal stockpile and coal loading facilities will be <br />located east of Reed Wash. Coal will be hauled to the unit train loadout facility by others in <br />highway legal trucks. Coal will be dumped from the trucks and placed into stockpile by belt <br />conveyors. Coal will be reclaimed from the stockpile and conveyed to the unit train loadout. The <br />unit train loadout will flood load rail cars. Coal throughput at the loadout will increase with time <br />and should not exceed about one million tons per year. Unit trains will be loaded approximately <br />twice per week at maximum throughput. Most of the coal will initially be obtained from the <br />McClane Canyon Mine. <br />The spur track and loadout are located south of State Highway 6 & 50, north of Interstate 70 <br />and west of the old Fruita Refinery. Reed Wash runs through the central portion of the <br />proposed permit boundary. Loma Drain runs through the western edge of the permit boundary. <br />The proposed mine permit area is located on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Mack <br />(quadrangle map within the following sections. <br />Township 1 North. Range 3 West. Ute P.M. <br />Section 2: Portions of the SW/4, W/2SW/4SE/4 <br />Section 3: Portions of the SE/4 <br />Section 10: Portions of the N/2NE/4 <br />Section 11: Portions of the N/2NW/4, W/2NW/4NE/4 <br />Containing 217.1 acres more or less <br />The proposed Fruita Loadout permit boundary contains 217.1 acres of land that is all located on <br />private surface. CAM-Colorado, LLC owns 212.5 acres, Southern Pacific Transportation <br />Company owns 3.0 acres and the Union Pacific Railroad owns 1.6 acres. The minerals within <br />the proposed permit area are owned by the respective private surface owners. <br />A copy of the permit application is available for public inspection at the Mesa County Clerk and <br />Recorder's office, 544 Rood Ave., Grand Junction, CO. A copy of the permit application <br />document, is available at the Denver and Grand Junction offices of the Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety (Room 215, 1313 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203, (303) 866-3567; and 101 <br />South 3rd, Suite 301, Grand Junction, CO 81501, (970) 243-1571] Written comments, objections <br />or a request for an informal conference on the proposed permit may be submitted to the <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Denver or Grand Junction offices, and must be <br />received by the Division within 30 days after final publication of this notice.
