Seneca Coal Company, LLC has applied for a bond release at the Seneca II-W Mine. The bond release
application was found complete by this Division on August 26, 2010. Seneca Coal Company is
requesting Phase I Bond release for 414.0 acres, in the South part of the permit area and some of the
other areas excluded from the SL-2 approval. The surface ownership is Federal, state and private, and
the coal mined was Federal.
In accordance with Rule 3.03.2(2) of the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Board for Coal Mining, the Division will be conducting an inspection of the Seneca II-W
Mine on Tuesday September 21, 2010, at 8:00 AM. The purpose of the inspection will be to evaluate
reclamation at the site. If you wish to attend the inspection, please contact me for specific details.
A proposed decision on the application will be issued within sixty (60) days of our inspection and
evaluation of the bond release application.
