length, Pond B (next in series, in the middle) = 35', and Pond C (last in series, closest to
creek) = 30' [estimated volumes for each Pond would be Pond A = 750 cu ft, Pond B =
1,312.5 cu ft and Pond C = 1,125 cu ft].
5. Page 1, Third Paragraph "Exhibit C-Mining Plan (Rule 6.3.3)": "provide a level of safety
and stability during occasions.... Need for a .... Physical barricade such as jersey
barrierts..."
RESPONSE: DRMS's comment has been noted and will be accommodated by the Mount
Sneffels Mining Company. Jersey barriers will be placed as perimeter barriers around
the waste rock storage areas on the lower bench of the permit operations. The barriers
will be placed in order to physically deter material movement and also add a measure of
safety to the material management process.
6. Page 1, Fourth and Fifth Paragraphs "Exhibit D - Reclamation Plan (Rule 6.3.4)" :
"Please note that bonds may be adjusted up or down, during the life of an operation.....
one detail that can affect the bond amount.... There are nearly 3,500 net cubic yards
needed for the reclamation... please comment on whether you wish this to be considered
part of the current bond calculation".
RESPONSE : The Mount Sneffels Mining Company acknowledges the fact that bonds can
be adjusted during the life of the mine operation. We anticipate being able to stock-pile
necessary fill materials towards the end of operations and will test these materials to
assure their inert chemical character, and begin storage on the upper bench along the
footprints of areas to be backfilled (the slopes adjacent to historic buildings etc.). Please
acknowledge that the Company will be responsible for retaining the necessary 3,500
cubic yards of material for the closure activities.
7. Pagel, Sixth Paragraph "Exhibit D- Reclamation Plan (Rule 6.3.4)": "the updated
mining and reclamation maps appear to meet all requirements ...recognize... the need to
maintain structures to control surface drainage .... do not need to revise this map...".
RESPONSE: The Mount Sneffels Mining Company recognizes the need to maintain and
control the natural drainage pathways that cross-cut the permit area. These paths were
inadvertently 'sloped' to achieve the necessary 3:1 reclamation standard. We recognize
that the drainages will actually remain and will be contained within native or
constructed flow paths in order to keep water from eroding reclaimed areas.
d"'
to
cis
0.
