to Wally Erickson when the Mount Sneffels Mining Company filed for a change in
operator in 2009. The Mount Sneffels Mining Company will continue to provide DRMS
the results of these sampling efforts at the time of the annual reporting.
8. Page 1, Fifth Paragraph "Exhibit C-Mining Plan (Rule 6.3.3)": "Please provide
information about the frequency of the routine sampling of sub-grade ore...
parameters... analysis onsite or at a lab... schedule analysis to be sent to DRMS".
RESPONSE: On-site personnel will conduct on-site paste pH measures of the subgrade
ore on a daily basis following the guidance provided in USGS guidance (Hageman, P.L.
and P.H. Briggs, 2000). When the paste pH measures yield acidic results (pH < 7), OR
when the subgrade ore material 'appears' to contain acid-bearing characteristics, a
sample for laboratory analysis of acid : base accounting (ABA) parameters will be taken.
An existing agreement is in place between the Mount Sneffels Mining Company and ACZ
Laboratories (Steamboat springs) to conduct the ABA analysis. The ABA parameters to
be analyzed for by ACZ include:
o Acid Generation Potential (t CaC03/Kt)
o Acid Neutralization Potential (t CaC03/Kt)
o Acid-Base Potential (t CaC03/Kt)
o Neutralization Potential (t CaC03/Kt)
o pH, saturated paste
o Sulfur Forms:
¦ Organic residual
¦ Pyritic sulfide
¦ Sulfur as sulfate
¦ Sulfur total
¦ Total sulfur minus sulfate
Daily records of paste pH will be kept on-site and collected by the mine manager (Larry
Luzar). ABA analysis will be run as-needed based on the day-to-day pH results. At a
minimum, monthly tests for ABA analysis will be conducted in order to meet the Ouray
County needs as part of the waste rock transfer process. All results will be provided to
by
cC
C1,
