for the mine site to be able to coordinate with the County in order to transfer materials
(after appropriate sampling and analysis) for their use.
2. Cover Page, Third Paragraph "Exhibit C-Mining Plan (Rule 6.3.3)": "the proposed snow
shed structure to be built...... must be sufficiently strong and correctly installed to
withstand the potential snowslides that may enter the site at that location... provide
construction specifications... materials to be used... etc."
RESPONSE: Design features of the proposed snow shed were drawn and are provided
within ATTACHMENT C. There are six sheets within this ATTACHMENT which outline the
specific components to this proposed shed. These sheets are being reviewed by a
County-approved Engineer in order to obtained 'stamped' plans as part of the Ouray
County Building Permit requirements. As such, the construction of this feature is
assured to comply with estimated snow loads etc.. The materials will include timbers
(sized as shown in the Sheets) and metal roofing.
3. Cover Page, Fourth Paragraph "Exhibit C-Mining Plan (Rule 6.3.3)": "the underground
repository.... Does it drain or pool at all currently? Does it intersect any identified minor
veins or fractures that could affect its stability or future suitability as an ore storage
location? Are there veins or workings farther in, beyond the repository segment to be
used?
RESPONSE : The subgrade ore repository will be comprised of an historic tunnel
immediately adjacent to the underground milling operation. It is a mine 'tunnel' which
does not interest any veins or ore bodies. It was strictly constructed to provide space
and access. Review of the tunnel by on-site personnel indicates that it is comprised of
uniform host rock and does not contain any vein features. The minable resources occur
several hundred feet below this tunnel. This tunnel occurs over 180 feet above the
groundwater and the working area of the mine.
4. Cover Page, Fifth Paragraph "Exhibit C-Mining Plan (Rule 6.3.3)": "The repository....
Please provide better description of the bulkhead and its construction, the liner material
to be used and how it is to be implaced, and the expected mine pool to be impounded
(dimensions, volume, possible isolation from the sub-ore, etc.)."
RESPONSE : ATTACHMENT D provides a more thorough diagram of the repository and
its construction. The proposed repository has been amended since the initial
application and will now include TWO cells in order to more thoroughly manage
materials and be able to decant all the water transferred to the repository. Refer to the
sheet drawing provided within ATTACHMENT D. The bulk head for each cell is
CZ
a..
