Pineda
Director
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has received a revision for the Bowie No. 2 Mine. Attached is a
copy of the pertinent sections of the revision submittal. The revision was called complete on August 16, 2010.
The decision due date is October 15, 2010.
In Technical Revision No. 68 (TR-68), Bowie Resources LLC (BRL) is proposing to add 80 acres to the west side
of the Bowie No. 2 permit area through an incidental boundary change. BRL is also proposing a mine plan
modification in this area, which lies to the west of Terror Creek. Only development mining will be conducted
under TR-68, with no projected subsidence. The additional permit area and the mine plan modification are needed
to continue mining until the western expansion area is approved in Permit Revision No. 12, which is currently
under review.
BRL has the right to access the coal through federal coal lease C-37210, originally assigned to the Bowie No. 1
Mine but a portion of which will be accessed from the Bowie No. 2 Mine for TR-68. The coal is managed by the
Bureau of Land Management and the affected surface land is owned by BRL. No surface disturbance and no
increase in the coal production or water usage are proposed in TR-68.
This revision is available for review at the Paonia Public Library, 2 Third Avenue, Paonia, CO 81428.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely
osep J. dash
Environmental Protection Specialist
C-CI-01 C1996083 JJD 08162010092419.doc
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
