Pineda <br />Director <br />Snowcap Coal Company, Inc. has applied for a bond release at the Roadside Portals. The bond release <br />application was found complete by this Division on August 16, 2010. Snowcap Coal Company is <br />requesting release of Phase I, II, and III bond liability on 75.2 reclaimed acres of its total 3,016 acres <br />within the permit boundary at the Roadside North and South Portals Mine. The purpose of this Bond <br />Release Request is to release those lands within the permit boundary located at the Unit Train Loadout, <br />Permanent Flood Control Dike, Railroad Spur and Overland Conveyor lying north of I-9/10 Road and <br />having a designation of Industrial as the postmining land use. The 75.2 acres have been fully reclaimed <br />and an Industrial land use has been implemented. A surety bond in the amount of $1,640,413.00 is in <br />place of which $661,061.00 is being requested for release. The surface ownership is Federal and <br />private, and the coal mined was Federal and private. <br />We will contact you to advise you of the Division's required bond release inspection of the site as soon <br />as it has been scheduled.
