Technical Revision No. 67, Terror Creek Vent Shaft, Adequacy Review
Dear Mr. Bear:
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) has finished its review of
Technical Revision No. 67 (TR-67), submitted by Bowie Resources LLC (BRL) for the Bowie No. 2
Mine. The Division has the following questions and comments:
Rule 2.03.6 - Right of Entry and Operation Information
1. Please provide documentation that the Bureau of Land Management, the surface manager,
approves of this specific project.
Rule 2.05.4 - Reclamation Plan
2. Attached is the Division's reclamation cost estimate for TR-67. The estimate is comprised of
three tasks (a summary sheet and tasks 261 and 262) and represents an increase in liability of
$198,905.00. The estimate includes costs for plugging, filling and capping the vent shaft and
removing the emergency hoist and nitrogen generator. Please inform the Division in writing
whether or not the cost estimate is acceptable to BRL.
Rule 2.05.6 - Mitigation of the Impacts from Mining Operations
3. The proposed construction of the Terror Creek ventilation shaft will destroy monitoring well
TC-03-03. However, the issue of the groundwater monitoring plan for the Bowie No. 2 Mine is
being handled in Permit Revision No. 12.
