Box 628 <br />Nucla, CO 81424 <br />RE: New Horizon Mine, Permit No. C-1981-008 <br />Permit Revision No. 6 <br />Dear Mr. Wade: <br />The Division has received Western Fuels-Colorado (WFC) August 13, 2010 request to extend the <br />deadline for Permit Revision No. 6 (PR-6) until August 31, 2010 at 12:00 noon. WFC also requests to <br />resume limited operations in the Morgan prime farmland areas including: strip Bench 1 overburden in <br />the areas from which A and B lift topsoil have previously been removed; rough grade Bench 1 <br />overburden on the spoil side; stockpile Bench 1 overburden on the spoil side; drill and blast Bench 2 <br />overburden and inner-burden; and to mine coal. WFC will not strip or spread A or B topsoil and all of <br />the Morgan's Bench 1 overburden will be placed back on the Morgan's property. <br />The Division will grant the extension to the PR-6 deadline until Tuesday August 31, 2010 at 12:00 <br />noon. WFC has stated that prime farmland soils will not be impacted by the limited operations <br />proposed.
