Pineda
Director
FROM: Joe Dudash
RE: Bowie No. e, Permit No. C-1996-083, Bowie Resources LLC
Technical Revision No. 68, Incidental Permit Boundary Revision, Request for
Assistance
I am requesting your assistance in the adequacy review of Technical Revision No. 68 (TR-68) for the
Bowie No. 2 Mine. As you are aware, Bowie Resources LLC (BRL) had submitted Permit Revision No.
12 in order to expand mining to the west into a portion of the Bowie No. 1 permit area. However, due to a
recent bounce in the Bowie No. 2 Mine, BRL needs a new area to mine until PR-12 can be approved.
Therefore, BRL is proposing a mine plan revision to do only development mining on the extreme western
side of the current Bowie No. 2 Mine permit area and in a limited area of 80 acres on the extreme east
side of the PR-12 proposed permit area. The mine plan change in TR-68 takes into account a recent
change in the PR-12 mine plan where the longwall panels will now be oriented north-south.
BRL needs TR-68 approved in about a month. Otherwise, mining will have to stop. PR-12 was called
complete on August 16. Therefore, I would appreciate your adequacy review comments back by early
Friday, August 27.
Attached is one complete copy of the TR-68 submittal. If you need additional information, please let me
know. Thanks for your assistance!
Attachments
cc: Sandy Brown (without attachments)
c:/word2007/bowie2/tr68memo 1
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
