?-l R8l-obi
Q2. !?
August 8, 2010
Sandra L. Brown
Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver CO 80203
Ms. Brown
RECD
AUG 16 4UIU
iun ()t Pe +
WnUg ad 8dW
Subject: Western Fuels-Colorado, LLC-Permit Revision 6
I am writing this letter in support of approval of PR06. My wife and I have
lived in Nucla all of our lives and we have worked at the New Horizon
Mine for 17 years. We are dependent on the income from our employment
at the New Horizon mine. We have had the opportunity to witness firsthand
the reclamation of property they have mined. The farmland has been
returned to better than the original in most cases. In our honest opinion,
they have done an extremely good job at the reclamation.
Our community depends on the continued operation of the New Horizon
Mine. The jobs that have been generated in the past 17 years have provided
economic stability to a struggling area. I hope that you will strongly
consider the approval of PR06, as it will greatly help our community to
prosper.
Thank you for your time,
Sincerely,
Freddie and Ailene Smith
