PERMIT #: M-2010-016
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: DMC
INSPECTION DATE: August 6, 2010
OBSERVATIONS
This pre-operation inspection was conducted in response to the 112c application submitted by Grand Junction
Pipe and Supply Co. Ed Settle represented the company during the inspection. Photographs are included at the
end of this report illustrating the conditions observed during the inspection.
The East Bradbury Pit is located approximately 14.5 miles south of Grand Junction, just east of Highway 50.
The 112c application for this site includes 29.3 acres of affected area that has been previously permitted under
the 111 permit M-2000-157. All but 3.5 acres of the area included in the 111 permit were disturbed with
reclamation nearly complete.
The proposed operation will remove basaltic gravels from the upper 8-12 ft. of a gently westward sloping
terrace. Prior to removal of the gravel deposit, all available topsoil will be removed and stockpiled. During
reclamation, prior to the application of topsoil, a 6 inch layer of fines will be applied over the disturbed area in
order to improve soil drainage.
Overall drainage of the area will be to the west.
No additional man-made structures that were not identified in the 112c application were noted during the
inspection.
Notice of the operation was adequate and located at the entrance to the Bradbury property at the time of this
inspection.
No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
A financial warranty estimate package is included with this report.
Inspection Contact Address
Ed Settle
Grand Junction Pipe & Supply Co.
P.O.
