Public Notice <br />Bowie Resources, LLC, P.O. Box 483, Paonia, CO, 81428, has submitted a complete application for a <br />technical revision to the Division of Reclamation Mining & Safety for its approved Bowie No. 2 Mine, <br />mining permit no. C-1996-083. The proposed revision provides for an incidental permit boundary <br />revision and associated extension of the mine plan. The 80 acre incidental permit boundary revision <br />is located west of Terror Creek. Mining in this area will extend the life of the mine about three <br />months. This technical revision is necessary to keep the mine operating until permit revision <br />number 12 is approved. Permit revision number 12 provides for extensive mining west of Terror <br />Creek. Coal will be mined from federal coal lease C-37210. The lease was originally part of the <br />Bowie No. 1 permit but by this revisionthe appropriate portion of the lease will be incorporated into <br />the Bowie No. 2 permit. <br />Most of the mine facilities are located north of Bowie Road near the town of Bowie, CO. A pump station, <br />three sediment ponds, a coal mine waste disposal area and unit train loadout are located south of Bowie <br />Road. The Fire Mountain Canal is located south of the mine facilities and north of the unit train loadout. The <br />North Fork of the Gunnison River is located south of the mine permit boundary. Any such hearing will be <br />held in the locality of the mining operation.
