WA WIN
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine
Technical Revision No. 68, Incidental Permit Boundary Revision
Permit C-1996-083
Dear Mr. Dudash:
CIVIL ENGINEERING
CONST. MANAGEMENT
On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, enclosed is an application for a technical revision
for an incidental permit boundary revision and associated extension of the mine plan.
Until recently, Bowie thought the timing of the approval of permit revision number 12
would mesh good with the development of the 1 west mains. The timing of the 1 west
mains was predicated on a delay caused by mining though a fault located west of
Terror Creek. Since the fault was not encountered, the 1 west mains were developed
ahead of schedule. This technical revision is necessary to keep the mine operating
until permit revision number 12 is approved.
Description of Revision
An 80 acre parcel located west of Terror Creek is being added to the permit boundary.
Mining in this parcel will extend the life of the mine about three months. Coal will be
mined from federal coal lease C-37210. The lease was originally part of the Bowie No.
1 permit but by this revision the appropriate portion of the lease will be incorporated into
the Bowie No. 2 permit.
Related Permit Actions
Technical revision number 65 was approved by DRMS. This technical revision allowed
the development of the 1 West Mains under Terror Creek. Technical revision number
67 is also in the process of being reviewed by DRMS. Approval of TR-67 will allow for
the construction of a ventilation shaft in the Terror Creek drainage. Permit revision
number 12 is in the process of being approval. Approval of PR-12 will provide for
extensive mining to the west of Terror Creek.
Right of Entry
The incidental permit boundary revision encompasses 80 acres of federal coal lease C-
37210 so right of entry is not an issue. The incidental permit boundary revision
