AUG ! 2 2010
Dori 61 P=; n,
Travis,
I am writing in response to your comments concerning the Rio Blanco County Spring Creek Gravel Pit
(File No. M-2010-024) dated July 30, 2010. Please see below for details on your individual
comments/questions. Thank you for your effort in this matter.
1. Per Rule 6.4.4 (d), please specify the size of areas to be worked at any one time. Also, please
provide an estimate of the periods of time which will be required for various stages or phases
of the proposed operation.
Response: It is estimated that no more than 4.74 acres of the actual pit will be disturbed at any
one time. The 4.74 acres will be mined over a 3.5-10 year period. Item No. 3, below, will
address the proposed reclamation process at the end of each 3.5-10 year period.
2. The proposed seed mix appears to be diverse, however incorporating native shrub species in
the seed mix may aid in the revegetation success. Some examples of shrubs that have had
success in similar settings as the proposed mine include Big Sagebrush, Rubber Rabbit brush,
Fourwing Salt bush and Greasewood.
Response: We will include Rubber Rabbit Brush, Big Sagebrush and Greasewood in the
revegitation seed mix proposed for the reclamation of the pit.
3. Per Rule 6.4.5 (2)(e), please submit a plan or schedule indicating how and when reclamation
will be implemented. Please include an estimate of the periods of time which will be required
for the various stages, or phases, of reclamation; a description of the size and location of each
