Seneca Mines Inspection Frequency
August 4, 2010
Page 2
We recognize that SCC has completed mining and most of the reclamation at the Seneca Mines. Currently SCC is in
the process of finalizing reclamation of all affected areas at the Seneca II-W and Yoast Mines. Temporary facilities
remain in certain locations, and on-going erosion repair and slide remediation are underway. Partial inspections at
these mines will focus on the areas of active reclamation, but the inspection frequency will remain monthly until
Phase II bond is approved.
At the Seneca II Mine, the Division is reviewing a permit revision that will significantly reduce the permit area. After
that permit revision is issued, SCC can submit an application for Phase II bond release. The reduced permit area has
been revegetated and will most likely achieve the Phase II bond release criteria. If the Phase II bond release is
approved, the Seneca II Mine would be considered an inactive mine and the inspection frequency would be reduced
to quarterly complete inspections.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Sandra L.
