14802 W. 44`h Avenue
Golden, Colorado 80403
Office: 303-279-6611
Fax: 303-279-6216
www.apcsouthern.com
August 4, 2010
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Permit No. M-2002-118, Velarde Pit Annual Report.
As requested by a letter dated July 1, 2010 APC Southern we would like to report the activities
occurring on the above listed permit. During the time period of July 1, 2009 to July 1, 2010 there
were NO mining or processing activates associated with this permit. No changes have been made
to the mining map.
The Velarde Pit is located 13 miles north of Walsenburg, CO in Huerfano County. APC
Southern Construction Co. has held the permit since August 8, 2005 being transferred from DG
Huskin Construction. Per inspection dated 2/1/2010 all activities have remained in the "phase 1"
boundaries and NO problems were noted by the inspector. 149 of the 300 total permitted acres
have been disturbed. The approximate depths of the mining operations are a maximum of 45
feet, as approved by the mining plan. The phase 1 area is almost mined out and future mining
operations will proceed to the south. Stockpiles are located along the north, south and west
boundary of the pit. These stockpiles are showing vegetation and appear stable. Reclamation and
re-grading activities have occurred on the Northeast corner of the pit.
Future mining activities will continue to the south where stockpiling and processing areas are
located. Any future activities will follow the guidelines and requirement set forth by the mining
permit. All entrances signs and boundary markers will remain intact even during times of no
mining activity.
If there is any further questions or information requested feel free to contact APC Southern's
Mining administrators at the address listed above.
T Dekowzan
APC Southern :onstruction
Project Manager
Jim MacDonald
APC Southern Construction
Vice President
