Weed: Russian knapweed, (Centaurea repens), and related species--Spotted or <br />diffuse knapweed Priority: 1 <br />A. Current distribution: Infestations are known to exist in Huerfano County and there <br />exists the potential for introduction through vehicle movement. This weed is <br />notorious for infesting gravel pits and seed then being spread with the <br />contaminated gravel. Surveillance will occur on a semi-annual basis <br />B. Goal: To prevent the introduction of this species into the site. <br />C. Management plans: Utilize herbicide applications as warranted. <br />D. Evaluation: Assess population changes through semi-annual inventory <br />Weed: Canada thistle, Cirsium arvense Priority: 1 <br />A. Current distribution: Infestations occur within Huerfano County and may be <br />introduced through vehicle movement. <br />B. Goal: To prevent introduction into project area. <br />C. Management plans: Control and eradicate any introduced infestation through <br />herbicide application. <br />D. Evaluation: Assess population changes through semi-annual inventory. <br />Weed: Scotch thistle, onoprodum acanthium Priority: 1 <br />A. Current distribution: Infestation occur within Huerfano County and may be <br />introduced through vehicle movement. <br />B. Goal: To prevent the introduction of this species into the site. <br />C. Management plans: Control and eradicate any introduced infestation by utilizing <br />herbicide applications. <br />D. Evaluation: Assess population changes through semi-annual inventory <br />4. HERBICIDE USE PROTOCOLS <br />When herbicides are utilized for weed control, they will be registered with EPA and <br />approved by the State of Colorado. Applicators will be appropriately licensed by the <br />State of Colorado. Applications will be made according to label requirements. Possible <br />herbicide selections will include, but not be limited to, Plateau@, Curtail@, Tordon@, <br />Milestone@, Grazon®, Habitat®, Redeem@ and 2,4-D.
