amecO
Earth & Environmental
After reworking of the "F" liner bench, the subgrade was inspected and approved for 80mi1
(primary) replacement. The geomembrane that was previously pulled back was replaced
overlapping the 100mil (PSSA) primary a minimum of three feet.
B) Geomembrane Acceptance
1) VLF
After air testing was performed, the geomembrane in the anchor trench was accepted to allow
for backfilling.
C) Geomembrane Delivery
1) VLF
Two loads (24 rolls) of 100mil LLDPE smooth and single sided textured geomembrane were
delivered to site during the week. The loads were delivered on a flat bed truck in good
condition. The rolls were unloaded using a CAT 966 front-end loader with forks attached. The
geomembrane was placed on three pieces of HDPE pipe, stacked two rolls high. An AMEC
field representative inventoried the geomembrane and was present at all times during
unloading of the geomembrane.
D) Anchor Trench
1) VLF
Backfilling of the PSSA anchor trench continued between stations F8+00 (+/-) and F12+50
(+/-). The anchor trench was backfilled using a John Deere 35D excavator, a CAT skid steer
loader, and laborers. Soil liner fill was moisture conditioned using a tandem axle water truck
and placed in the trench in one-foot compacted lifts. Compaction was performed using a
vibratory plate compactor.
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor.
AMEC observed structural fill placement within the Phase 5 VLF fill area. Ambient temperatures were
monitored during fill placement.
AMEC inspected and approved subgrade prior to SLF placement within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed, performed necessary testing, obtained moisture samples, and assisted in the placement
and moisture conditioning of SLF material within the Phase 5 VLF. This included the PSSA anchor trench
backfill.
AMEC inspected and approved subgrade for geomembrane deployment within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed, logged data, and assisted in the installation of geomembrane within the Phase 5 VLF.
AMEC observed and inspected PSSA anchor trench excavation.
VLF Weekly Report WE 07.17.10.D
