amecO
Earth & Environmental
C) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
Oversize rock within the Phase 5 VLF fill area was removed from fill/cut areas and hauled to
the overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road near stations A29+00 (+/-) to
A32+00 (+/-) right of centerline.
D) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
Structural fill placement was performed between stations E16+00 (+/-) and E23+00 (+/-),
approximately 0 to 200 feet right of centerline and between stations C5+00 (+/-) and C7+50
(+/-),approximately 0 to 100 feet right of centerline. Cut/fill operations were performed using
various CAT dozers and excavators. Structural fill was placed in 18" to 24" lifts. Each lift was
moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a
10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times
(method compaction technique was applicable).
E) Soil Liner Fill
1) VLF
Soil liner fill (SLF) placement continued in the areas shown on Figure 3. Subgrade was
approved and moisturized prior to placement using a tandem-axle water truck. Placement was
performed using two CAT D-6 dozers, and one CAT skid steer loader in a one-foot compacted
lift. Moisture conditioning was performed using a tandem-axle water truck and compaction
was performed using a 10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor. Nuclear density testing,
moisture verification, and depth checks were performed in the geomembrane deployment areas
throughout the week. All test results were within project specifications and all test locations
were surveyed by Ames.
The area between stations F8+00 (+/-) and F12+50 (+/-), approximately 0 to 40 feet left of
centerline was reworked using a skid steer loader, a tandem axle water truck, and vibratory
plate compactor. This includes the backfilled PSSA anchor trench. Nuclear density testing,
moisture verification, and depth checks were performed in area. All test results were within
project specifications and all test locations were surveyed by Ames.
F) PSSA Ore Slope Construction
1) VLF
No work performed during the week.
G) Low Volume Solution Collection System
1) Low Volume Solution Collection Piping
No work performed during the week.
2) Low Volume Solution Collection Fill (LVSCF)
Finishing of the previously placed LVSCF surface was performed using a CAT D-6 LGP dozer
and a CAT skid steer loader. LVSCF placement was not performed during the week.
VLF Weekly Report WE 07.17.10.1)
