Environmental Protection Plan, Schwartzwalder Mine 18-1
• 18. WILDLIFE PROTECTION
Mine reclamation has been designed and completed to minimize or prevent harm or damage to wildlife
species and habitat.
(a) Mitigation Measures to Prevent Loss of Habitat
The mine property has been reclaimed to allow grazing, and no loss of habitat has resulted from mine
operations and reclamation.
(b) Measures to Prevent Wildlife Contact
No designated chemicals are stored on site, and the mine is not acid-generating. The external waste rock
dumps have been reclaimed, including capping with topsoil and revegetation. The Steve Level Adits
(Steve adit and Pierce adit) have been bulkheaded to prevent entry and eliminate the potential for wildlife
to contact water in the flooded mine.
Water quality in the creek is consistently below aquatic toxicity standards.
is
•
4109C.100731 Whetstone Associates
