<br />PUBLIC NOTICE
<br />Bowie Resources, LLC, P.O. Box 483,
<br />Paonia, Co, 81428, has submitted a
<br />complete application for a technical
<br />revision to the Division of Reclamation,
<br />Mining & Safety for its approved
<br />Bowie No. 2 Mine, mining permit no.
<br />C-1996-083. The proposed revision
<br />will provide for the installation of a
<br />ventilation shaft east of Terror Creek.
<br />The proposed 18.5 foot finished
<br />diameter, 550 foot deep ventilation
<br />shaft is located in the NE/4NE/4 of
<br />Section 8, Township 13 South, Range
<br />91 West. The proposed shaft will be
<br />excavated using a raise bore. The
<br />cuttings from the, raise bore will be
<br />conveyed to the outside and placed
<br />in the coal mine waste disposal area.
<br />Prior to raise boring, the perimeter of
<br />the shaft will be grouted to minimize
<br />water infiltration. Grouting will be
<br />extensive in any water bearing zones.
<br />The shaft will be lined with concrete.
<br />The raise boring operation will require
<br />a temporary diesel powered electrical
<br />generator along with necessary fuel
<br />tanks. Access to the shaft site will, be

<br />are no plans at this time to install a
<br />ventilation fan.
<br />Most of the mine facilities are located
<br />north of Bowie Road near the town
<br />of Bowie, CO. A pump station, three
<br />sediment ponds, a coal mine waste
<br />disposal, area and unit train loadout
<br />are located south of Bowie Road. The
<br />Fire Mountain Canal is located south
<br />of the mine facilities and north of the
<br />unit train loadout. The North Fork of
<br />the Gunnison River is located south
<br />of the mine permit boundary. The
<br />proposed mine permit area is located
<br />on the U.S., Geological Survey 7.5
<br />minute Bowie Quadrangle map within
<br />the following sections.
