PERMIT #: M-2010-024
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: THM
INSPECTION DATE: July 7, 2010
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was a pre-operational inspection conducted by the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety to assess the proposed 18.88 acre 112c permit area. The Spring Creek Gravel Pit is located
approximately 6 miles east of Rangely, Colorado off of Rio Blanco County Road 122. Paul Daggett of the
BLM White River Field Office accompanied the inspector during the inspection.
The required posting of the notice of pending application for a reclamation permit was in place and in
compliance with rule 1.6.2(1)(b). The notice was posted at the main entrance of the proposed operation. The
proposed operation is located at the base of a burnt shale outcrop near the Spring Creek Drainage. The existing
vegetation consisted of sage brush and pinion and juniper. The access road is pre-existing and is going to
undergo improvements once the site is permitted. The only man made structure within 200 feet was a power
line owned by White River Electric which runs adjacent to the western permit boundary.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the inspection are included at the end of this report.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone no. (970) 241-2042.
Inspection Contact Address
Dave Morlan
Rio Blanco County Road and Bridge
570 2nd Street
Meeker, CO 81641
Cc: Paul Daggett
BLM-White River Field Office
220 East Market Street
Meeker, CO 81641
