Your proposed sampling is in agreement with the sampling conducted for the SL11
submittal. Sampling to adequacy on the Moffat Bond Release Block is necessary. I agree that only sampling vegetative
cover will provide us the information necessary. In other words, it is not necessary to sample for productivity. Sampling
vegetative cover to determine relative cover by species is necessary in order for the Division to find that noxious weed
contribution has fallen below 3%.
I'm still digging in the files to determine if one year of data will be sufficient or if Chevron Mining will need to meet the
standard for two years. But your proposed sampling plan for 2010 is acceptable to the Division.
J n wet H. g%vw?,s
Environmental Protection Specialist II
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
phone: (303) 866-3567 ext. 8107
fax: (303) 832-8106
From: Lindsey Brandt [mailto:lbrandt@habitatmanagementinc.com]
Sent: Wednesday, July 14, 2010 9:11 AM
To: Binns, Janet
Cc: Chris Keough
Subject: RE: Edna mine ArcGIS files
Hi Janet-
Please find the attached letter regarding vegetation monitoring for weed cover at Edna. I will look at how the weeds are doing (hopefully dying). I think as long as you
document to me what your proposed sampling methodology will be and it meets our rules (also refer to our guidelines).
Thanks
