amecO
Earth & Environmental
certified secondary geomembrane, constructing the toe of the slope (if applicable). Geotextile
was placed over any geomembrane within three feet of the slope toe. A 10-ton smooth drum
roller was used to compact the surface of the ore slope 2' or more above the geomembrane and
a plate compactor was used to compact the remaining portion of the slope.
H) Low Volume Solution Collection System
1) Low Volume Solution Collection Piping
Placement of the low volume solution collection system continued at the LVSCF placement
area shown in Figure 6, advancing in front of the placement. Four-inch CPeP was placed and
sandbagged in accordance with design drawings, constructing the mainline and the tertiary
lines. The secondary geomembrane in the area was accepted prior to pipe placement.
The trench for the low volume solution collection riser pipe was excavated using a CAT 345
excavator.
2) Low Volume Solution Collection Fill (LVSCF)
Low volume solution collection fill (LVSCF) material placement within the Phase 5 VLF
continued. LVSCF was placed in the area show in Figure 6. The LVSCF was hauled from the
processing area to the placement area using CAT 740 haul trucks loaded by a 988 front-end
loader. The LVSCF was placed in a 3-foot lift using two CAT D-6 LGP dozers, a CAT D-7
LGP dozer, and a CAT D-8 LGP dozer, expect were haul routes were established. Haul route
consisted in five-foot lifts, to be spread into 3-foot lifts later. Laborers were present at all times
during placement holding the low volume solution collection piping in place, removing
debris/sandbags, and assisting the dozer operator with lift thickness. LVSCF placement was
also performed during night shift (6/29/2010 only) using the same equipment and procedures.
All LVSCF was placed on previously approved secondary geomembrane. AMEC field
representatives observed placement constantly during both day and night shifts.
I) Material Processing
1) East Cresson Clay Borrow Area
Processing of SLF material continued this week. A CAT 320 excavator, a CAT 330 excavator,
a CAT 950 front-end loader, and tandem-axel haul trucks were used to excavate, haul, and
process the material.
Location This Week
(tons) Cumulative
(tons) Comments
E Cresson Clay Processing 9,483 165,104
S Cresson Clay Processing 0 201,199 Processing in area complete.
Squaw Gulch Processing 0 35,816 Processing in area com lete.
Total 9,483 397,508
J) Miscellaneous
No work was performed during the week.
VLF Weekly Report WE 07.03.10.D
