July 13, 2010 C-1980-007/West Elk Mine TK <br /> of the fence at the Deer Creek shaft. <br /> No problems were found at the vegetation historic records study area,located uphill from the main surface <br /> facilities area. This reference area is fenced on both sides of the access road,and has a large amount of grass <br /> cover. There were no weed problems. <br /> SUPPORT FACILITIES -Rule 4.04: <br /> No problems were found in the following areas: materials storage bench,trash compactor, explosives <br /> storage area,barrel storage building, and the hydraulic components storage,the Sylvester Gulch facilities and vent <br /> shaft sites. The Deer Creek Shaft site was quiet,with no one at the site. Small patches of thistle could use <br /> spraying outside the fence on the north side of the Deer Creek Shaft pad. <br /> Construction continues on the coal preparation plant(on the Lower Refuse Pile), associated conveyors, and the <br /> new stack tube ST-5. <br /> Refuse Conveyor PP-4 has recently been installed over Sylvester Gulch Road. This conveyor is enclosed and will <br /> carry refuse from the preparation plant eastward over Sylvester Gulch Road to the Refuse Truck Bin on the Refuse <br /> Pile Expansion. <br /> The Monument Dam borrow area and the Corrals staging/laydown area appeared in good shape. There was no <br /> activity in the Deep Creek Crossing area. <br /> TOPSOIL—Rule 4.06❑El Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; <br /> Redistribution 4.06.4: <br /> Topsoil stockpiles appeared in good shape at the following locations: in Sylvester Gulch,in the main <br /> surface facilities area,at pond MB-5E, at the North Subsoil Stockpile, Stockpile#5 (above the Materials Storage <br /> Bench),the Deer Creek Shaft,and exploration hole 2010-1 (approved in MR-361).
