The main purpose of this cyclone bank is to separate a portion of the tailings into a fines
component and a coarse component. The coarse component will be directed to the beaches of the
Tailings Storage Facility with the expectation that a coarser grind will yield a steeper overall beach slope.
The steeper beach will increase water storage capacity in the tailings pond.
The cyclone bank will be constructed directly over the existing drop tower #9. During the summer
spigotting months, 30 to 40% of the tailings flow will be diverted to the cyclone bank. Cycloned overflow
material will be directed to the existing emergency cutout which reports to the south end of the tailings
impoundment pond. The coarser underflow will discharge into drop tower #9 and back into the existing
tailings delivery line.
As per our phone discussion on July 6, 2010, we understand that approval will not be required for the
construction of this facility, as it is process related. Please contact me at (303) 569-3221, ext. 1233 or
Bryce Romig.(ext. 1204) if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,

Miguel Hamarat
Chief Environmental Engineer
Climax Molybdenum Company
Henderson Operations
CC: B.
