LAKE COUNTY
Public Works
1200 Hazel Street
Leadville, CO 80461
Phone: 719-486-0259
Fax: 719-486-8479
June 29, 2010
Annual Report
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Re: Permit No. M-1977-459
Lake County Gravel Pit_
Anniversary Date: July 8, 2010
Gentlemen;
Enclosed, please find the payment of $791.00 for the annual fee for the above referenced
permit.
The activity in the calendar year 2009 consisted of mining and crushing approximately 15,500
tons of road base material during the time period January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009. The
material mined consisted of taking down material on existing disturbed areas as shown on
enclosed map and cutting down the slope on the south east side of the pit. No new areas of
disturbance occurred during this time period.
Reclamation for the year 2009 consisted of stockpiling existing top soil from the pit area to the
east side of the pit. Also in 2009, we have continued our program of stockpiling top soil from
outside sources, such as new road construction around town in anticipation of future
reclamation work.
During the year 2009, since there were not any new areas of disturbance Lake County
continued to accumulate top soil from outside sources. It is expected that there will not be any
new disturbances. All mining activities will be within previously disturbed areas of the existing
pit. Production for the calendar year January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010 will be
between 10,000 and 15,000 tons of road base material.
Please contact Brad Palmer, Public Works Director at 719-486-0259 should you have any
questions.
Sincerely,
Brad Palmer, Director
Lake County Public Works
