excavation, hauling and deposition. This project is anticipated to continue into late November or
December. As such, revegetation will be performed in the spring of 2011.
4.0 Protection of Eagle Park Reservoir and Other Fresh Waters
Following are actions and measures that will be implemented to ensure the protection of the Eagle Park
Reservoir and other fresh waters in the vicinity of the.work being performed.
4.1 Material Spill Prevention
A. Haul trucks will be loaded within the limits of the lake bottom to contain potential spillage that may
occur during this procedure.
B. Articulated haul trucks with and without tailgates are anticipated to be used to haul the sediment,
however, the contractor will have the ability to select appropriate equipment for hauling of this
material. These types of trucks are watertight and therefore should limit the potential for spillage of
sediments during transportation. An example of this type of equipment is a Cat 730 articulated haul
truck with a maximum truck capacity of 17.1 cubic yards.
4.2 Sediment Containment
A. A deposition site for the sediment removed in 2008 was constructed at the base of 2 Dam. The east
berm of this location prevents precipitates and sediments from running into the East Side Channel
where it could affect water treatment operations. A portion of the deposition area is anticipated to run
proximate to the water pool between the 2008 precipitates and sediments from Robinson Lake and the
4 Dam (Oxide Pond) tailing delta.
4.3 Storm Water Runoff
A. Stormwater management for this project will be administered within the existing Climax Mine
stormwater permit (COR-040178) and associated Stormwater Management Plan.
B. Stormwater flows associated with this project report to the existing process water collection system in
Robinson Lake, Robinson Tailing Pond, and Tenmile Tailing Pond. A short reach of the haul route
will require stormwater controls to prevent release of sediments outside the Climax process water
collection system.
C. Oil products or other potentially hazardous materials used in this project will be administered
pursuant to Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure requirements (40 CFR Part 112).
