Revegetation
Reclaimed areas around the site appear green and healthy due to excellent winter and spring
moisture. The operator has recently completed the spring weed control effort at the site.
Evidence of effective weed control efforts were noted at the West Mine, the Apache vent
shafts, and around the mine office.
Offsite Support Facilities
Both of the Apache Canyon vent shafts appeared in normal condition, with boundary markers
and id signs noted at both locations. At this time, only the upper fan site (below right) allows
air flow through a grated cover. No power or other facilities are approved at either location at
the present time.
The operator has mentioned the possibility of future offsite loadout of coal onto the main
railroad line in Trinidad. Please be aware that any offsite loadout would require permitting
under Rule 2.06.10 in accordance with the requirements of Rule 4.28.
Overall, the site appeared busy and operations appeared to be in compliance with the
approved plan and the Rules.
5
