the similar seeps described in the original application may also have been very
small in areal extent.
The seep on the west side in Section 4 is on a reclaimed hillside at approximate
Elevation EL 7050 just above and east of the East Taylor Pond. This location is
near the pit limits, but very close (about 400 feet south of) to undisturbed land.
The seep's elevation is about 150 feet above the pit floor at this location.
Because it is so far above the pit floor and is close to a natural undisturbed
hillside, this seep also appears to be a remnant of the premining local perched
seeps like the ones observed near the eastern permit boundary.
The overall conclusions with respect to impacts on groundwater are as anticipated in
the original permit application, but that is largely a consequence of the absence of any
significant premining groundwater resources other than the localized perched seeps.
The ridge like topography, location of the mining zone well above the elevation of the
local incised streambeds, topographic isolation from more significant recharge zones to
the south west, and hydraulic isolation from the underlying Trout Creek Sandstone all
serve to reinforce the conclusion that there was little in the way of groundwater
resources to be potentially impacted within the reclaimed areas that are the subject of
his application.

•
Phase 111 Bond Release Application 16
