MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #:
INSPECTION DATE
M-1980-248
6/7/2010
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS DMC
This inspection was conducted in response to the 112c Permit Amendment application (AM02) submitted by the Moffat
County Board of County Commissioners on March 25, 2010. The inspection occurred at 10:00 a.m. on June 7, 2010.
Marvin Moore was present, representing the Moffat County Board of County Commissioners, during the inspection.
Figures are included at the end of this inspection report, with red arrows indicating the origin and direction of the
photograph.
Lyons Pit No. 2 is located approximately 3.25 miles southeast of Craig, and accessed from Highway 394.
AM02 will add approximately 30.63 acres to the permitted area, increasing the permitted acreage to 70.21 acres. The
additional acreage requested in AM02 is currently cropland, and will be reclaimed as cropland.
The mine identification signage was in place and adequate during the time of this inspection (Figure 1), as well as the
notice for AM02 (Figure 2).
The western portion of AM01 is currently undergoing reclamation, with vegetation consisting of alfalfa and grasses
becoming well established (Figures 3-6). Several antelope were observed grazing in the area during the time of the
inspection (Figure 6). The topsoil stockpile located along the south side of the AM01 boundary is graded at slopes of
3H:1V or less and vegetated, with no indications of erosion observed during the inspection (Figure 7). A loader was
present and inactive in SW portion of the pit area during the inspection (Figure 8), along with several materials
stockpiles, the largest of which appeared to contain approximately 300-500 yd S.3' with the other stockpiles containing
less than half that volume (Figure 8, 9). One lined fuel tank containment was observed in the pit area (Figure 10) that
serves as the fuel source for the operation.
The area to be included in AM02, as earlier stated, is presently cropland and will be reclaimed as such (Figures 11-14).
No noxious weeds, evidence of off-site damage, erosion, or other problems or violations were noted during the time of
this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Dustin Czapla at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3`d Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number
(970) 243-6299.
Inspection and Enforcement Contact: Cc:
Marvin Moore CE:
1570 Ranney BLM:
Craig, CO FS:
81625 HW:
HMWMD (CH):
SE:
WQCD (CH):
Other:
