All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and
the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
This revision application proposes a reduction in size of the Seneca II permit boundary. The proposed reduction is to
accommodate the new Peabody Sage Creek Mine (PSCM) permit area, which will incorporate approximately 3, 011.9 acres of
the original Seneca II permit area. The revised Seneca II permit area will retain 386.5 acres of the original permit area that
includes 271.0 disturbed acres. The revised Seneca II mine permit boundary encompasses one isolated watershed and separates
runoff from the Seneca II mine and the new PSCM permit area. The watershed discharges to pond 008, which is an approved
NPDES discharge point. Proposed changes to the current permit boundary and associated changes to the operations and
reclamation plans are set forth in a new volume to the permit application package titled "Permit Revision (PR-02) reduced
permit area.
The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 9 miles Southeast of Hayden, Colorado.
